There’s no need to waste everybody’s time over the next four months. With its Week 16 loss to Miami in overtime, Cincinnati on Sunday clinched the top selection for April’s draft. There is little to no doubt the Bengals will select LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 pick, so the attention turns to No. 2. Based on the Week 16 results, that pick now belongs to the Redskins thanks to their overtime loss to the Giants. The wins for New York and Miami also opened the door for Detroit to slide into the No. 3 slot should it lose to Denver on Sunday afternoon.MORE: SN’s latest 2020 NFL Mock DraftWashington plays Dallas in Week 17, so unless the Cowboys rest their key starters on the heels of winning the NFC East and clinching a playoff spot, chances are the Redskins will stay in position for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.Below is the updated NFL Draft order for 2020 through Sunday’s Week 16 games.NFL Draft order 2020Pick No.TeamRecord1.Cincinnati Bengals1-142.Washington Redskins3-123.Detroit Lions3-11-14.New York Giants4-115.Miami Dolphins4-116.Jacksonville Jaguars5-107.Los Angeles Chargers5-108.Carolina Panthers5-109.Arizona Cardinals5-9-110.New York Jets6-911.Denver Broncos6-912.Cleveland Browns6-913.Atlanta Falcons6-914.Oakland Raiders7-815.Dallas Cowboys7-816.Indianapolis Colts7-817.Tampa Bay Buccaneers7-818.Oakland Raiders(via 7-8 Bears)19.Miami Dolphins(via 8-7 Steelers)20.Jacksonville Jaguars(via 8-7 Rams)(The teams slotted in Pick Nos. 21-32 are currently in the NFL playoff picture.)In Sporting News’ latest NFL mock draft for 2020, the Bengals indeed land Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick. “Offensive-minded coach Zac Taylor needs a franchise passer with Andy Dalton fading and Ryan Finley not showing much,” SN’s Vinnie Iyer writes. “Burrow has enjoyed a meteoric rise as the runaway Heisman Trophy winner and top QB prospect in this class. At 6-3, 215 pounds, he combines his mental and physical toughness in the pocket with a strong arm and accurate delivery.”That mock draft was released when the Giants were slotted at No. 2 overall, where we had them selecting& Ohio State defensive end Chase Young to boost their pass rush. Unless they doubt 2019 first-rounder Dwayne Haskins’ future, the Redskins likely would take Young at No. 2.If their place in the order were to stick, and if the Bengals were to select Burrow, the Dolphins likely would have their choice of the remaining quarterbacks, from Oregon’s Justin Herbert to Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts to Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. Our latest mock has them going with Tagovailoa.last_img
