Prakash Padukone: I’m proud when people call me ‘Deepika’s father’

While Prakash Padukone is an ace badminton player, his elder daughter Deepika is an international star and his other daughter, Anisha is going places too.In an exclusive interview to India Today Television, Prakash expressed his pride for Deepika. Does he mind being referred to as ‘Deepika Padukone’s father?’ He answers with a laugh, “Not at all. It’s a moment of pride for any parent, when their child has achieved so much.”However Deepika prefers to differ, and would like to be called ‘Prakash Padukone’s daughter’. “That’s how it should be,” she says.Despite having a father who was a veteran at sports, Deepika, though she did play badminton in her growing up years, never wished to pursue it.Prakash said that he never put pressure on her to take up the sport. “From my experience, I can say that my father let me choose a career like badminton, where there was no money. My wife and I decided to let our daughters pursue whatever they wanted.”Deepika added, “There was never any pressure to play badminton. I liked and enjoyed it as a hobby, but I don’t think I put enough effort into it.”Prakash also revealed hat Deepika had always shown interest in modelling. “It’s important for parents to realise that there’s a difference between liking and being passionate about something.
